Safety Schemes In Procurement (SSIP)
Safety Schemes In Procurement is not an assessment scheme, it is a membership or umbrella body for assessment schemes with the common aim of reducing both duplication and costs for both buyers and suppliers. Suppliers do not join or become members of SSIP. It is the assessment schemes who are members of SSIP.
SSIP actively promotes the reduction in health and safety assessment costs and bureaucracy in the supply chain, by making cross-recognition between member schemes as effective as possible, and highlighting the savings to buyers and suppliers. All SSIP member schemes have fully committed to the vision of driving unnecessary cost and confusion out of supplier health and safety assessment, and SSIP's core philosophy is to enable effective cross-recognition between existing schemes.
You only need to apply to one SSIP accreditation scheme. They all follow the SSIP Core Criteria questions so your choice of scheme will be guided by your clients, the scheme fees, speed of assessment and ease of application. We have the expert knowledge and experience to advise which scheme would be best suited to your company. But research shows that choice is normally made for you by your clients to obtain your accreditation from a specific scheme.

Constructionline is a procurement and supply chain management scheme that collects and verifies standard company information based on PAS 91.
Health and safety is one of the mandatory sections of Constructionline. They will accept an SSIP member scheme certificate or an OHSAS 18001 certificate from a UKAS accredited certification body as an exemption from having to complete this section. Buyers can search the Constructionline database for suppliers using SSIP member certification as part of their search criteria.
Many Constructionline buyers ask for SSIP member certification (or an appropriate OHSAS18001 certificate) as a condition of working for them.
Constructionline DO NOT assess the responses to health and safety questions. Do not be confused. A Constructionline certificate does not cover competence in health and safety management and is therefore not an SSIP certificate.
Acclaim Accreditation is Constructionline's SSIP accreditation scheme.

The time it takes varies depending on the accreditation scheme. We will prepare your submission as quickly as possible but then you will have to wait for an assessor from the chosen scheme to review your application. Some schemes offer a Fastrack service but they do charge for this queue jumping service. But of course this is inexpensive if you require urgent action on your application.
